GM sports 29 all-stars in eight fall sports

EDINBORO (Dec. 11) -- Years ago, when several Lancers were in on a tackle at a General McLane home football game, the announcer would simply say the opponent was brought down "by a host of Lancers."

And when the Erie Times-News released its selections of fall sport all-stars recently, it seems that host of Lancers has returned. The lists name 29 McLane student athletes as all-stars in eight sports. They are, by sport listed alphabetically:

Boys Cross Country/Region 5

First team: Bryan Baumgartner, sophomore; Dan Dillon, junior; Morgan Hanes, junior

Second team: Michael Green, freshman; Craig Hutcheson, junior

GM was the Region 5 team champion.

Girls Cross Country/District 10 (All regions)

Katlin Zimmerly, senior

Girls Cross Country/Region 5

First team: Maggie Ashton, freshman; Hilary Weismiller, junior; Katlin Zimmerly, senior

Second team: Elisa Grant, sophomore; Sarah Schulz, senior; Becca Wheeling, freshman

GM was the Region 5 team champion.

Football/District 10 (All regions)

Drew Astorino, senior, all-purpose back, offense, and defensive back, defense

Football/Region 6

First team offense: Drew Astorino, senior, APB; Brad Callan, senior, OL; Shawn Walker, junior, TE
