In the game statistics, McLane easily outdistanced Oliver with 221 to 143 total yards, but GM lost four fumbles in the game marked by chilly, windy conditions. Weather.com reported that game-time temperatures in Pittsburgh ranged from 35 to 39 degrees, with a chill factor that made it feel like 23 to 30 degrees. Winds of 18 to 28 mph were reported.
The Lancers had a total of 205 yards on the ground. Ryan Skelton led Lancer rushers with 74 yards on 14 carries. Astorino was next with 60 yards on 12 carries, and Dan Skelton had 59 yards on 14 carries.
Scott rushed for 56 yards on 17 carries, scoring the lone touchdown for Oliver, which made its first PIAA playoff appearance in the school’s history and ended its season at 11-3.
With the victory, the Lancers (11-2) advance to the PIAA semifinals against the winner of the Thomas Jefferson-Selinsgrove game on Saturday, Dec. 2. The time, date and location of the game will be announced later.
UPDATE (Dec. 3) -- McLane's next opponent will be Thomas Jefferson, which beat Selinsgrove 27-14 on Dec. 2. The time, date and location of the game has still not be announced.
